Four restaurants in Hong Kong will allow their customers to pay using cryptocurrencies. The restaurants, Sohofama, Locofama, SUPAFOOD, and the Hive Café are all run by the organic food chain FAMA Group. Blockchain company Pundi X will enable customers of the restaurants to pay using physical crypto-charged cards, known as X PASS cards.
In an attempt to bring cryptos closer to retailers and consumers, Pundi X will be giving away free cards at the RISE technology conference in Hong Kong in July. The cards will be pre-charged with several cryptocurrencies, including the company’s own currency, NPXS. Each card will contain 0.001 BTC, 500 NPXS and 50 ADI and will have a total value of roughly €8.
Zac Cheah, co-founder and CEO of Pundi X tweeted about the initiative:
Come and experience the crypto economy at @RISEConfHQ conference. During July 9-12, free XPASS card holders can use #cryptos to check out their meals and drinks in four FAMA group restaurants in Hong Kong. Let me know what you think 🙂 #npxs #pundix pic.twitter.com/gTErTIDK8h

Founder of FAMA Group said about the project:
Our restaurants celebrate traditional methods in our cuisine, but we also see ourselves as innovators and are pleased to be on the frontline in enabling customers to settle their bill with Bitcoin or ether-based cryptocurrency by using a secure payment option such as the Pundi X POS.
Cheah also spoke about the incentives for Pundi X to establish this partnership with FAMA Group:
Adoption of cryptocurrencies in East Asia is probably the highest in the world; however, there are still few channels for spending digital currency today, and this is what we want to change by working with retail outlets such as the forward-thinking FAMA Group.
According to Cheah, the Pundi X project will continue to expand throughout Asia and aims to support a more widespread use of cryptocurrencies in the future.
